Welcome to
Chedworth Farm Shop
The Finch Family
Back in 1928 Cecil Finch bought two plots
of land in the Cotswold village of Chedworth,
Woodlands Farm to the west and Denfurlong
Farm to the east. With the help of his wife
they settled into a life of farming. In 1931
they had a little boy Nigel.

It was during this time that many girls were joining the Land Army. One of these
girls was Barbara Goodson. Born in Teddington, west London, she was moved to
the Cotswolds to help out on a farm in Chedworth. Whilst she was there she met
the farmers' son Nigel and the rest, as they say, is history.

Fast Forward 50 odd years and both Nigel and Barbara are still living at
Woodlands and the dairy farm is still going strong.

The Farm
Our cows are all born and raised on the farm and are actually the same line that
Cecil bought way back in 1928. This means that we know exactly where they have
come from and how they have been treated. The cows all know us and live a
happy life roaming in the Cotswold countryside.

The Farm Shop
The shop is at Denfurlong Farm and is run by Rosanne, one of Nigel's daughters,
and her eldest daughter Amy. So as you can see, we're a real family business.

The farm buildings we are based in used to be a milking parlour. We moved the
cattle that used to live here to another part of the farm and the milking in these
buildings stopped. They were lying empty until we had the idea to start up a farm
shop.

Planning was granted and we converted the old milking parlour into the farm shop
and the cubicle sheds became the coffee shop and village green.

The building work began in May 2005 and was originally meant to be completed
by October 2005. As is the case with all the best laid plans things got behind
schedule and we eventually opened our doors to the first customers on March 1st
2006.

Since then we have slowly been expanding what we can offer and with new things
arriving the whole time it is always worth a visit.

Why not come and see for yourselves what makes us so special
.
